The introductions include two fake-breasted girls, Sophie and Vernesa, and a rapper called Rif Raf.

Meet the rest of the cast 8pm on July 16th

Sneak peak trailers for Ten’s The Shire launched last night, featuring two fake-breasted girls discussing their enhancements and a rapper called Rif Raf. How will these characters impact ratings?

So far the most meaningful lesson we’ve been able to take from the show.. “If you weren’t born with it, just buy it”

The Shire: Coming to a TV near you!

5 Jul

Contrary to recent reports that Channel Ten was shelving reality television show The Shire, the network this morning announced it has brought forward the program’s release. The show will now go to air in less than two weeks.

Just last month rumours swirled that the network’s management was ‘underwhelmed’ with the footage so far and by all accounts it was relegated to the backburner.

At the time the network was vague about timing, saying viewers would get to meet the cast later this year. Production has now seemingly been rushed forward with The Shire due to air on July 16 at 8pm.

TAXI!!! – Say goodbye to 3am changeover

THE state government is altering taxi licences to try to break the 3am changeover bottleneck in the city, a critical part of Sydney’s late-night transport headache.

The City of Sydney this week endorsed an ambitious strategy to invigorate the city’s nightlife, identifying more efficient transport as the key to the success of the late night economy.

Existing problems identified by the report were a lack of transport options once trains stopped running, particularly between 2am and 4am in popular night-time destinations such as Kings Cross, George Street and the Rocks.

The state government this month launched a tender for a new batch of taxi licences that require changeovers before 2am and 2pm to try to break the changeover bottlenecks that typically occur at 3am and 3pm. More than 200 such licences were issued by the state government in 2011, bringing the total number of taxis who can’t change at the regular time to 1201, or 21 per cent of the fleet.

“The NSW government will continue to release more time-restricted licences if required to address availability during changeover periods,” said the Transport Minister, Gladys Berejiklian.

Suzie Matthews, the city’s manager of late night economy and safe city, welcomed the government’s continuation of the program, and said the taxi supply was a key problem identified during public consultation. ”The trains are dropping out at a time when you’ve got big masses of people moving through the area,” she said.

”Everyone told us please increase the supply of taxis … it’s pretty hard to get home.”

Taxi drivers traditionally change over between their 12-hour shifts at 3am and 3pm, though schedules have become increasingly flexible over time, according to the NSW Taxi Drivers Association.

The association president, Anne Turner, said that she was ”very surprised” by the claim that people struggled to find taxis in Sydney late at night.

The draft strategy endorsed by the council cited a number of other changes to taxi operations to improve supply and address concerns about driver safety, including increasing the number of taxi ranks and introducing a pre-pay system for taxis after midnight. A state government trial is under way on the central coast for pre-payment, where the driver estimates the fare at the start of a journey, and the difference with the actual fare and the end of the journey is either paid by the passenger or refunded by the driver.

Implementing pre-payment statewide will be considered once the results have been assessed in the coming months.

Ms Matthews said that while further reforms of the taxi industry were needed, it was also important to look at alternative means of late night transport – such as private shuttle buses. “At the moment there’s an over-reliance on a transport source that isn’t always in supply.”

It has been 3 long years since Paul Oakenfold last graced our shores for the Future Music Festival back in 2009. In that time Paul has been extremely busy; having partnered his widely respected Perfecto label with Armin Van Buuren’s almighty Armada Music, the label has gone from strength to strength and continues to be at the forefront of electronic music boasting a continuous stream of successful new releases. Paul’s globally syndicated radio show Planet Perfecto is now aired in over 40 countries every week and has quickly amassed a legion of loyal fans worldwide. Paul has also returned to the DJ circuit in a big way with a non stop schedule of over 200 shows in 2012 – with appearances at some of the largest and most respect events and festivals across the world.

His highly acclaimed Four Seasons tour and album concept, which embraces a cutting edge visual show fused with Paul’s Full On Fluoro sound has recaptured the imaginations of fans new and old worldwide.

Paul Oakenfold’s story is woven so tightly into the fabric of what we know of today’s ‘dance music’ that he surely needs no introduction, with the magnitude of his career it’s hard to put one of the true legends of electronic music’s history into words. For over 3 decades he has shaped and changed an entire genre of EDM and continues to be the leading force in the global music scene, paving the way all other artists in the genre. Yet he isstill pushing boundaries. His most recent works have taken him from the DJ Booth of the world’s hottest clubs and festivals, to the studio to record and remix tracks for some of the biggest recording artists in the world (Madonna, U2). The first global dj to have a residency in Las Vegas – he helped the city go on to win the tag of the ‘Ibiza of the USA’ and his Perfecto Record label has opened the doors for countless headliners including David Guetta. His artistry and craft has earned him accolades from critics and fans as well as 2 Grammy nominations and the ability to play anywhere in the world, like the Great Wall of China.
In the build up to the release of the Four Seasons 4 x CD album on 2nd November Future Entertainment are pleased to announce five exclusive Australian appearances from Paul Oakenfold as he brings his full Four Seasons audio and visual production down under.

Paris Hilton DJs (with a little help) Technician gives socialite a hand as she makes debut in Brazil

25 Jun

PARIS HILTON flaunts her decks appeal – with a helping hand from a pro – during her first live DJ set.

The socialite, 31, donned sequin headphones and a satin basque to play tunes to a packed crowd in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

But she needed help with her knob-twiddling so a technician moved in to work the Pioneer decks for the novice

Paris is in town for the city’s annual Pop Musical Festival – and she was clearly bricking it about her DJ-ing debut.

She tweeted earlier in the day: “On my way to The #PopMusicFestival! I have never been so nervous & excited all at once!”

Perhaps to keep the punters happy in case her music wasn’t up to much, the leggy beauty went all out on her outfit.

She wore sexy, stocking-style tights with diamante ‘suspenders’ and an embellished satin corset.

Completing the look was a pair of long, studded gloves and black platform heels.

The leggy beauty wore flirty flicks of eyeliner and pink lippy – and her signature blonde locks were partially pulled back in a side plait.

The crowds at the city’s Arena Anhembi seemed to go wild for the look – giving Paris a rapturous welcome.

She later tweeted: “Wow! What an incredible night! So happy you all loved my set! Loved watching you all smile & dance! One of the best night’s of my life!”

Proud sis Nicky Hilton posted a pic of Paris at work with a shout-out to her talented sibling: “Congrats @ParisHilton on your DJ debut in Brazil!”

Describing herself as a “Model, Actress, Singer, Brand, Business Woman, Fashion Designer, Author, Philanthropist and Empire” on the social network, it looks like Paris can now add ‘DJ’ to that list of accomplishments. Just.
